SIGMA THETA TAU INTERNATIONAL
NU MU CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP
 
 


The Cal State LA, Sigma Nu Mu Chapter, linked to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurisng (STTI) has been helping nursing students pursue higher education since 1994!  Since 2010, our Nu Mu Chapter has awarded over $56,000.00 to deserving nurse leaders within the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing (PACSON).
Our scholarships range up to $1,500.00. Both awards recognize outstanding students and their contributions to the advancement of nursing knowledge, nursing leadership, and evidence-based nursing practice.

AWARD CRITERIA:

  • Scholarships are awarded based on predetermined criteria, which include academic performance, personal and professional goals, commitment, and involvement in professional organizations and scholarly activities to advance the profession of nursing.

Eligibility:

  • All Nursing Students currently enrolled in the BSN or MSN Programs at Cal State LA – PACSON with a minimum GPA of 3.50 are eligible to apply. The scholarship funding is contingent on full-time enrollment for Fall 2024. Recurrent scholarships are not available.

Please note: Baccalaureate and Graduate students in the program at Cal State LA are not required to be members of Sigma Theta Tau Nu Mu Chapter to apply for a scholarship award.  However, preference will be given to members. Graduate, Doctoral and post-graduate candidates taking course work at other institutions must be members of the Nu Mu Chapter in order to be considered for a scholarship award.  Those applicants who wish to reapply for a scholarship award must resubmit an application with the required supporting documentation. Prior recipients of the award are NOT eligible to apply.

  • Provide a personal statement describing your life goals, academic aspirations, and future career goals.

    • If applying for the Dr. Marilyn Friedman Scholarship, please describe how you are supporting your family and what are your responsibilities for this support.

  • Reflect on your past achievements, hardships overcome, and your influences moving forward.

  • Describe your nursing leadership to include your person-centered values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Describe your participation and contribution to professional nursing organizations.

  • Describe your community and public health service-oriented activities.

  • Share your awards, honors, and moments of special recognition.

  • Provide one letter of recommendation.

  • Please specify which scholarship you are applying for.

 

Submit your Scholarship Portfolio in a PDF Format to the Nu Mu Chapter Scholarship Committee at stti.numu@gmail.com. The due date is Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, at 1159-hour.
